Mackie Designs Inc. Announces Fourth Quarter Results

February 22, 2000 – Woodinville, Wash. – Mackie Designs Inc. (Nasdaq: MKIE) today announced revenues and earnings for the quarter ended December 31, 1999. Revenues for the fourth quarter were $43 million, compared with $35 million for the corresponding quarter in 1998, an increase of 23%. Revenues for 1999 were $154 million compared to $102 million in 1998. Net income for the quarter was $1.8 million, or $0.15 per share, compared with net income of $1.4 million, or $0.11 per share, in the fourth quarter of 1998, an increase of 36%.

"This is the third consecutive quarter in which we have set a revenue record", stated Jamie Engen, Chief Operating Officer. "More importantly the $0.15 earnings per share is our best quarterly result since the second quarter of 1996, and the highest earnings we have had in the last fourteen quarters. We are excited to enter the new millenium with such positive growth signs and look forward to continued growth throughout this year."

Company Chairman, Greg Mackie, commented, "The growth in revenues is important for Mackie as it verifies that we are able to enter new markets and gain acceptance in those markets. We will continue to expand our product line and with this expansion we look forward to higher margins and increased profitability. Our focus on cost control is making a difference on our bottom line."
