Three Mackie Products Nominated for TEC Awards
NEW YORK CITY – AES Convention, October 10, 2003: Mackie, a LOUD Technologies Inc. brand, has three potential TEC Award winning products at this year’s 19th Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards Ceremony Saturday, October 11, 2003 at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City – Mackie Control, the HR626 Active Studio Monitor and the SDR24/96 Hard Disk Recorder. Presented annually by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio, the TEC Awards honor individuals, companies and technical sound innovations behind recordings, films, TV shows and live performances. The TEC Awards Ceremony takes place during the Audio Engineering Society (AES) Convention in New York, which runs from October 10-13.
Mackie products nominated for this year’s awards are:
Mackie Control: This fully automated control surface is nominated in the category of Small Format Console Technology. Mackie Control has since morphed into the Mackie Control Universal, which gives users hands-on control over Logic Audio, Pro Tools, SONAR, Digital Performer and many others.
HR626 Active Studio Monitor: This dual 6-inch Active Studio Monitor Nominated in the category of Studio Monitor Technology. This is the second year in a row a Mackie Active Studio Monitor is nominated in this category. The HR624 won last year.
SDR24/96 Hard Disk Recorder: This live and home studio hard disk recorder is nominated in the Recording/Storage Devices category. This is the second year in a row a Mackie recorder is nominated in this category. The MDR24/96 won last year.
On the creative side, several works using Mackie equipment are up for Outstanding Creative Achievement Awards. The film Chicago is up for best Film Sound Production and David Lee, who won an Oscar for production sound mixing for the same film, uses a Mackie 1604-VLZ Pro Compact Analog Mixer for his work. And the production of the 45th Grammy Awards is up for a TEC Award in the Remote Production/Recording or Broadcast category. Ed Greene, a production mixer for the show and is second on the all-time Emmy winning list with 16, uses a Mackie d8b and an Analog 8-Bus console. Also, Mackie equipment is used in the studios for TV shows Alias, Six Feet Under and 24, which are all up for a TEC Award in the Television Sound Production category.
Last year, two Mackie products won TEC Awards – the Mackie HR624 Active Studio Monitor in the Studio Monitor Technology category and the MDR24/96 Hard Disk Recorder in the Recording Devices category.
